The Bang operator, run on a layer over a model ship box


Here's how we did it


This is bottom layer of the image, the ship.


Here is the result of the Bang operator.
After running bang, we used Shave to pull
out some speckles, and Soften Alpha to gain
some edge blending.
This layer is above the ship.


This warp layer rescales the explosion a little smaller.
After the fact, we thought it was a little large.
This layer is above, and local to, the explosion layer.
Because it's local to the explosion, it does not
shrink pixels in the layer below, the actual ship.
